Are priorities given to particular students?

The Village hosts a diverse range of residents from all over the world and across New Zealand, and we see this as a true strength of our community. To ensure fairness, we don't give preference to any group over others. Therefore we encourage all applicants to submit the relevant forms as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Can I arrive early?

Yes! – subject to availability, please email enquiries@ucastudentvillage.co.nz to secure an early arrival.

Can I choose my flatmates?

Yes - Residents applying to stay at UC Accommodation can choose their flatmates online through our new self selection process. You will be  asked to create an online profile, the profile will contain  information about your study habits, sports & arts interests, acceptable noise,  smoking or non-smoking and single sex preferences etc.

Once this information is  collated the system will display your ‘best matches’ (apartment style accommodation only). You can also browse for students outside of the systems suggestions. Once this has been completed room selection becomes available you will be able to choose your room within your selected room type.

University Hall residents can also self select their rooms in much the same way.

Can my partner live with me?

Spouses, partners, boyfriends or girlfriends can apply for accommodation at UC Accommodation Student Village, as long as they too are tertiary students. Couples will be provided with individual rooms; however you can request to be allocated rooms in the same apartment or building.

Do I need a financial guarantor?

If you want to pay for your accommodation fortnightly (only available to those students on full year, self-catered contracts) or quarterly you’ll need a financial guarantor to sign your contract. The financial guarantor must be New Zealand based and is usually a parent or caregiver.
